WAO Wanaka
Based in the Southern Lakes region in New Zealand, Wao is a charitable trust dedicated to educating, inspiring and enabling New Zealand communities to accelerate beyond not just a sustainable future, but one where people give back more than they take.
Each year the Wao summit is one of the trust’s main events, providing an annual check-in for the community to see how they are tracking towards this vision. The summits have focused on the cross-pollination of ideas and how people can collaboratively build more resilient communities, food resilience, cleaner transport systems, foster community connection and more. The annual Wao Summit looks at every aspect of what it truly means to live in harmony with the planet in Aotearoa New Zealand.
EAS’s involvement with WAO
With Dr Carly Green as a board member, staff at EAS get involved with Wao every year and lead a series of workshops on a range of topics, including building capacity in greenhouse gas accounting, de-mystifying language around climate change, presenting on what the agricultural sector needs to know, and more. The workshops are designed to ensure that participants are informed and motivated to make reductions after the events.
EAS participate in Wao and share our expertise in order to give our local community the tools and knowledge to make realistic and meaningful changes in their operations and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. We aim to provide participants with opportunities to influence the local environment in a positive way and catalyse change in the community.
If you are looking for ways to make a meaningful difference in the community, reduce your greenhouse gas footprint or understand more about what your business can do to reduce climate change, contact us or visit WAO Wanaka to learn more.
See you at the next summit.
